Arches National Park
Arches National Park contains one of the largest concentrations of natural stone arches in the world. 100 million years of wind and water erosion created the arches and numerous other extraordinary geological features, such as balanced rocks, spires, pinnacles and pedestals. See more than 1,600 cataloged arches from a 3-foot opening to the magnificent, 105-foot high Landscape Arch.
Canyonlands National Park
Canyonlands contains over 100 square miles of colorful, deeply eroded slickrock canyons and rock formations. Visitors come to the park for sightseeing, hiking, camping, mountain biking, jeeping, four-wheeling and river rafting on the Green and Colorado rivers.
Capitol Reef National Park
Great varieties of erosive forms, such as huge domes and spires, twisting, sheer-walled canyons, colorful cliffs and many layers of sedimentary rock fill this 250,000 acre park that was named for one dome's resemblance to the U.S. Capitol.
Glen Canyon National Recreation Area - Lake Powell
At 186 miles long, with 1,960 miles of shoreline, Lake Powell is the second largest man-made lake in the U.S. Set within steep gorges and huge sandstone cliffs, the lake offers all forms of fresh water recreation. There are several marinas to accommodate everyone's needs.
Dead Horse Point State Park
This beautiful state park offers spectacular views of the LaSal Mountains, Canyonlands National Park, and the Colorado River 2,000 feet below. An almost isolated island-mesa, the area was at one time used as a natural corral for wild horses. A visitor center and museum are open year-round.
San Rafael Swell
A 40-60 million year old uplift of arching, stratified rock is now a world class mountain biking, hiking and off-road enthusiast's mecca. Severe erosion over millions of years have created many colorful desert geological oddities.
Goblin Valley State Park
A vast sandstone bowl is filled with stone shapes resembling demons, spooks and goblins that seem to change and move with the movement of the sun. Let your imagination run wild while viewing countless rock formations on display.
Crystal Geyser
An extremely rare, highly mineralized cold water geyser. Eruptions occur 2 to 3 times daily, lasting for up to 30 minutes, reaching heights of 80 to 100 feet. The exposed sandstone cliffs in the Rainbow Rocks area display vibrant color.
River Scenery, Petroglyphs & Dinosaur Tracks
Dozens of deep canyons exist around the Green River area, offering sensational scenery with panoramic views of the colorful red cliffs. Petroglyphs, pictographs and other signs of ancient Native American presence fill the canyon walls. Sand Beach, Swazy Rapids, Nefertiti and the old Spanish Trail Crossing are just a few of the interesting features along the river. To the east, an old wash bed contains several kinds of dinosaur tracks that turn; a very unusual phenomena.
